Champagne reception marks Midhurst Bowling Club’s centenary

MEMBERS of Midhurst Bowling Club gathered at their June Lane home to celebrate their centenary year.

With special guests John Etherington, chairman of the town council and his wife Molly and Andrew Mitchell, chairman of the Midhurst Town Trust and his wife Sian members cut a centenary cake and enjoyed a champagne reception.

They were welcomed by captain Gerald Dixon after which president Doug Pelling spoke about the history of the club.

A centenary game was played by members in the afternoon who then enjoyed the 100th birthday tea provided by bowling club member Sarah Porter.

The cutting of the centenary cake was presided over by chairman of the club Howard Seymour.
