MARIE Curie Cancer Care fundraisers have been in Midhurst encouraging people to put on their walking boots and support them through their ‘Walk Ten’ charity events.
They were launching the first-ever Midhurst 10k event which will start and finish at the Spread Eagle Hotel on September 2. It will be a twilight walk starting at 7pm which will meander through the Cowdray Estate and finish with an evening of wine and music at a post-walk reception at the hotel.
At 10pm every night, Marie Curie nurses across the country arrive at the homes of terminally-ill patients in West Sussex to provide professional care throughout the night and support carers and their families.
To honour this, walkers at the Spread Eagle will celebrate the important time for all nurses and supporters with a minute’s silence at 10pm followed by a fireworks display.
The walks are supported by HomeServe, the home emergency and repairs experts and Abi Pattenden, chairman of the Sussex County Association of Funeral Directors.
To register for the walk readers should go to marie curie website or call 08700 340 040.
