SHAW care home Rotherlea, in Petworth, opened its doors to relatives and friends of the service in time for the festive season.

Celebrations were in full swing for the day, with various stalls, festive games, music and refreshments.

Activities workers Kirsty and Chris had planned the event down to every detail.

Kirsty said: “It’s so important for the residents here to get the chance to enjoy a shopping experience, and that’s exactly what they had for their afternoon.

“We are supported really well by families here at Rotherlea.

“It was a fab afternoon”

Rotherlea is home to 70 people, some of whom are physically frail and some who are living with a dementia.

The home is purpose-built, with each resident having their own room and en-suite facility.

Activities are an important part of life in a care home and embellish Shaw’s ethos of Wellness-Happiness-Kindness

At Rotherlea care home, Christmas is about a build up of festivities throughout the month which helps to encourage residents and families to get into the spirit of the season.

Between them, Kirsty and Chris have put together a full and comprehensive festive plan which includes Christmas light trips to local towns, carol concerts, cooking, pantomimes, decorating, shopping and of course, plenty of mince pies and sherry.
