DESPITE showery conditions, Cocking Fete still managed to raise a staggering sum of money at its annual event – even more so than in previous years.

The Midhurst Mayhem Band gave a tremendous performance though they had to run for cover on two occasions.

This is the third year running the band has appeared and their enthusiastic performances enhanced the entertainment value of the fete, creating just another reason for people to attend.

Also attracting visitors was a whole range of stalls from skittle bowling to coconut shy, teas, cakes, and a book stall that boasted over 1000 books for sale. When a shower hit, the stall resembled Wimbledon during match seasons as a tarpaulin was quickly dragged across the stall.

Attendees noted the wonderful location and those who had not been before vowed to make this an annual event in their calendars.
