I HAVE lived in Midhurst for about 23 years and find it a wonderful place to live.

It is friendly, beautiful, set in the most wonderful landscape with great architecture and is full of great shops and restaurants. The group I helped to set up, ‘Midhurst Together’ would love to help make Midhurst a ‘Happy’ place – it’s why we helped put together the community ‘Happy’ video earlier this year. However, in my view it can sometimes be hard to find out what is going on in town; there are lots of great things going on but occasionally we miss out because we didn’t find out about them until too late.

Thanks to the recent MADhurst Festival we’ve come up with a plan to address the problem. MADhurst delivered a booklet through every letterbox in town that told everyone what events were going on during the festival; excellent!

So, Midhurst Together’s next project is to create a comprehensive list of all the groups, clubs and societies in Midhurst and put them all together in one booklet, available to all. It’s the first, important step towards the community website we’re advocating.

We believe that belonging to such groups enriches our lives, helps us to meet new people and extend our interests. We also believe that many of the local groups, clubs and societies would welcome more members.

The problem is it can be hard to know what’s happening and which group or club is meeting when. I’d love to see all these groups listed in one place with a description and information about them so we can all decide if we’d like to join them.

Midhurst Local personally delivers through everyone’s door in Midhurst so we’re going to collaborate with this excellent publication and show the groups what we’re planning in an example page this autumn. Look out for it and let us know what you think!

If you belong to a society, club or group however big or small and would appreciate some publicity for your group by being in a publication like this then please let us know. Just tell us who you are and what you do, how often you meet and how to get in touch with you. We intend to publish next Spring.
