So far the band has released four videos on its Youtube channel, including a 360 degree virtual reality film called ‘Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)’.

The Gorillaz were created by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, a former pupil of Tanbridge House School in Horsham.

It features four animated characters - singer 2D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russel Hobbs - who play the band’s music in their own fictional universe.

Mr Hewlett, who also attended Northbrook Art College in Worthing, has directed the new six-minute animated film ‘Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)’ featuring four of the band’s new songs.

The album is expected to feature artists including Jehnny Beth (Savages), Danny Brown, Benjamin Clementine, De La Soul, D.R.A.M. Peven Everett, Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Zebra Katz, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Vince Staples, Popcaan, Pusha T, Jamie Principle and Kali Uchis.

It will be released on April 28.
