Police say burglary rates in the ‘hot-spot’ Haslemere area have plummeted by more than 80 per cent as a result of their burglary days of action.
Officers in Waverley have been pro-actively targeting burglars and giving door-to-door crime prevention advice over the last month as part of a campaign to reduce offending.
The fortnight operation involved 30 officers from the safer neighbourhood teams and uniformed pro-active teams. Action included high-visibility uniformed patrols as well as covert plain clothed patrols of areas previously targeted by burglars.
Inspector Tom Budd said: “We have seen a significant drop in burglaries, particularly in the recent hotspots of Haslemere and Godalming. We made several arrests and the operation also gave officers the chance to offer first-hand advice on how residents can protect their homes.”
