POLICE officers from Surrey have renewed their appeal for information on a smash-and-grab raid at a Haslemere jewellery shop through an appeal on BBC Television’s popular Crimewatch programme.
CCTV pictures of the raid at Objets D’Art in the High Street were shown on the programme in a bid to jog people’s memories and ask for information.
The footage of the incident during the early hours of Monday, October 10 last year shows a gang of four hooded men smashing open the front door using a huge piece of wood and a 4x4 vehicle.
The burglars then targeted the display cabinets and filled holdalls with silverware valued at more than £20,000 making off in the stolen Mitsubishi Shogun in the direction of Chiddingfold.
The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in the Billingshurst area.
The break-in at the specialist antique store was the fourth in a year and caused £4,000 worth of damage to the family-run business.
Anyone with information is urged to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference WV/11/5530 or pass it anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
