Man in court over Fittleworth shooting

A man accused of wounding with intent, possessing a firearm when prohibited for life and possessing a prohibited weapon has appeared in court.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said Brian Acott, 70, of Fairmead Close, Fittleworth, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday (November 2).

He was remanded in custody to appear before Chichester Crown Court on November 23.

A 61-year-old man from the village remained in hospital after he was shot in the leg on Saturday evening (October 31).

His injuries were not life threatening, said police.
