Suspended sentence for care home ransack man

A SUSPENDED prison sentence was given to a Billingshurst man who committed a crime after just leaving prison.

Kristopher Everitt, 29, admitted to entering a care agency and stealing items from within.

The incident on April 9, saw Everitt enter Go Zone care agency in Billingshurst, and steal three laptops and charity box from the building. The value of the contents of the charity box was unknown.

On April 10, he pleaded guilty to the charges at Worthing Magistrates Court.

The court heard he had been under the influence of alcohol and had recently been released from prison.

The incident ‘involved ransacking the premises’, the court heard.

Magistrates ruled Everitt must be treated for alcohol dependency, and if he commits another crime he must serve an 18-week sentence in prison.

He was also ordered to pay £80 costs to the victim.
