ABOUT 1,300 people turned out for Milland bonfire and fireworks on the recreation ground.

Organised by the bonfire and fireworks committee for the parish council, the event has been an annual fixture in the Milland calendar for more than 50 years.

The highlight was the spectacular fireworks planned by Aurora Fireworks, which also trained the firework firing team.

Best guy and best carved pumpkin competitions were organised by Michelle Carrington and judged by Milland Pottery owner Angela Carter.

Four hundred hog roast rolls were served in less than 90 minutes and a number of village-based groups used the evening to raise funds.

The Sports Club ran the bar, the village hall team sold homemade soup and Hollycombe School sold sweets and homemade cakes. Milland Stores was also open.

The organising committee would like to thank the many villagers who helped. More than 30 volunteers were safety marshals, ticket collectors, food servers or provided specialist electrical and catering services.

All profits go to Milland-based charities, voluntary organisations and good causes.
