SUPPORT available to dementia sufferers and their families will be showcased at an event later this month.
Local organisations and charities will be taking part in the event, led by the Alzheimer’s Society, set to be held at Chichester library on Monday, September 30.
The disease currently affects more than 13,000 people in West Sussex.
The drop-in session will run from 10.30am-3.30pm and will be attended by the Chichester health and wellbeing team, who will be offering free health checks, Age UK, Chichester Area Mind and Carer’s Support.
Members from West Sussex charity Time Aside, which offers short breaks for people with dementia, and St Wilfrid’s Hospice will also be on hand to answer questions.
Lionel Barnard, member for residents’ services, said: “This event will provide vital information for people who either suffer from or know someone with dementia.
“It is also a good chance to speak with a health professional and organisations if you are worried about a loved one.”
