HEADTEACHER of Easebourne Primary School Johnny Culley has voiced the hope the blunder over school safety markings in Easebourne will not delay plans for the safety zone planned outside the Wheelbarrow Castle school entrance.

Villagers in Easebourne expressed disbelief when they saw road safety markings appear on the road outside the empty building which housed the school in Easebourne Street until it moved two years ago.

West Sussex County Council has admitted the work was a mistake.

Mr Culley said: “We are very grateful for the council’s active support in promoting the safety of the children at Easebourne Primary School.

“Earlier this year, we were shown maps detailing the school safety zone designed for the school’s new location in Wheelbarrow Castle and we are keenly looking forward to the positive impact this will have on the speed of local traffic.

“I do not know the detail surrounding the recent work in Easebourne Street but hope that it does not mean that our school’s safety zone on Wheelbarrow Castle will be delayed.”
