Easter egg hunt will help independents

AN EASTER egg hunt designed to bring families to Midhurst town centre is aiming to encourage more people to enjoy independent shops.

Midhurst is one of the 56 UK towns launching the Enjoy an Independent Easter campaign.

Organised by The Midhurst Town Team, participating traders will be listed on an Easter egg hunt map, and shoppers can collect egg stickers to complete the trail. When all the eggs have been collected, the map can be swapped for a real chocolate egg and a certificate for all children taking part.

John Quilter, chairman of Midhurst Town Team, said: “We are delighted to support this excellent event which we believe will be fun for families and children in the heart of our town centre.

“This follows hot on the heels of the nationally-recognised Midhurst Pound event run by our local independent traders, which was well supported by our local community. Our mission is to create a pleasing, sustainable and stable town centre with a vibrant business base where residents will want to return again and again, and events such as this are just what is needed to help us achieve this.”

The egg trail starts on Saturday, and runs until April 14.

Clare Rayner, the retail champion who organised the national event, said: “Simple, effective activities can really help to keep consumers interested.”
