Fiona Oliver-Watkins has decided to step down as head teacher of Chichester High School for Girls.

Chairman of governors, Simon Elliot, said she has made the decision to ‘make way for new leadership as the school moves toward academy status’.

In January, the school announced it was planning to gain academy trust status by the start of the next academic year. The academy will be sponsored by The Kemnal Academy Trust (TKAT).

Yasmin Maskatiya, currently head teacher at Thomas Bennett Community College, which is run by TKAT, will take up the position of executive head teacher prior to the appointment of a new head teacher. Lynne Gibson, who is currently deputy head teacher, will take up the position of head of school.
