BUDDING chefs from Northchapel Primary School rose to the challenge when the new owners of the Stag Inn at Balls Cross set them the task of creating a royal wedding pud for the pub menu.
Simon Haggan and his business partner chef Reuben Waller are keen to be involved in community life.
They challenged every child in the school to invent a special dessert for the royal wedding weekend and have pledged to donate all the profits from the sale of the winning puddings to school funds.
And when Reuben went along to school at the end of term to judge the puddings, he had set himself a hard task.
“The children were just great,” he said. “They had all gone home and invented dishes, written about them and even photographed them, they were all so enthusastic.”
The winners were Ellie Holt, ten, with her Royal Mess, Lisa Jones, eight, with her Royal Surprise, and Josh Holt, eight, with his Royal Tower.
