FERNHURST Pre-school received a glowing Ofsted report, and staff’s enthusiasm was praised.
The inspector gave the school a ‘good’ rating, the second best score.
“Children persist with activities and are very motivated in their play, due to the caring and positive involvement of staff,” said inspector Catherine Greenwood.
She said the children learn about other cultures and beliefs, there is opportunity for them to play outdoors, and the children ‘become familiar with the school environment’.
The report did give some advice to improve the school further, including a need to ‘extend the opportunities for children to challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes’ and to share more with parents about their child’s development.
But overall the staff were pleased with the report.
“I was delighted with the Ofsted report which I felt reflects the happy, caring atmosphere we strive to create here at Fernhurst Pre-school,” said Judy Holliday, lead practitioner.
“This is thanks to our dedicated and enthusiastic staff team working together to provide a positive experience for the children as they start their learning journey.”
The chairman of the pre-school’s parent committee said: “We were really thrilled to see the hard work and devotion of the staff recognised.
“They do a brilliant job, and as a result our children are happy and thriving.”
