PLANS by the Kaleidoscope Pre-School at Petworth for a nature pond are flourishing thanks to a grant from Southern Water.
The company has given the group financial support from its Community Chest programme which supports schools, charities and good causes with grants towards new projects.
The pre-school is creating a nature garden on a piece of unused land on its grounds and with help from parents and local businesses, the garden is taking shape and will include a vegetable plot, willow tunnel and soil digging pit.
Southern Water’s grant will help pay for a raised pond which the children will use to learn about the wildlife there.
Katrina Budd, pre-school chairman, said: “The pond is going to be raised so that it will be safe for the children and accessible for wheelchair users.
“We are grateful to Southern Water for its help.”
Kevin Buck, for Southern Water, said: “We were delighted to be able to help the Kaleidoscope Pre-School turn an unused piece of land into a haven for wildlife.”
