EACH week for the past 18 months young chefs at Midhurst Primary School have been sifting, chopping, stirring and steaming their way through recipes in their cookery lessons.

They are supported by community supermarket Kavanagh’s Budgens with store cupboard ingredients and recipe cards created especially by the store so they can cook the dishes all over again for their family and friends.

Now there is a way everyone in Midhurst can try their recipes.

The school and Budgens have created a recipe book which is now on sale in the store for only £2.99 and all proceeds from the sale of the books go back to the school.

The book recipes are taken from the cookery programme and favourite recipes submitted by teachers and pupils: delicious-sounding treats like chocolate doughnuts, chicken pie and swamp jelly.

The school and store ran a competition for pupils to design the front cover of the book which was won by Abigail Robinson in year 2 with her “food face” design.
