IN HONOUR of hardworking and dedicated staff, English Woodland Timber Limited decided to say thank you – by holding a giant barbecue.
In the company headquarters at the Cocking Sawmills, more than 150 ravenous diners turned up to feast among the wood stacks.
They were invited to go along for some ‘gentle socialising with us woodfolk’.
Those in attendance included furniture makers, joiners, builders, timber hauliers and forest workers.
It was one big meaty thank you to all staff, friends and families.
On the menu were homemade paella, locally-sourced lamb and Sussex meats.
Even vegetarians were catered for.
Tom Compton is managing director of English Woodland Timber.
He was amazed at the sheer number of people who turned up.
Tom said: “It was a great day to get together and enjoy everyone’s success over the last year.
“We will probably do it again, if it is requested by popular demand in a couple of years.
“We wanted to hold this giant barbecue with a twist because it would be a fun and enjoyable way to thank our staff and customers for all their hard work and business over the years.”
