FERNHURST Good Companions opened 2015 with an enjoyable afternoon of bingo.
One of the committee members had used the internet to search for bingo jargon and phrases, before using his new-found knowledge to give guests a fascinating insight into the history of the popular game.
Lines were completed and housey-housey – the old-fashioned name for covering all the numbers on the card – was called out and small prizes given.
Members then enjoyed tea and a raffle added funds to the club.
At the next Fernhurst Good Companions meeting, Maureen Pavey will be singing folk songs, while playing the guitar, before the vicar, the Rev Nick Haigh and his wife Anita, go along in February.
Other meetings will include a childhood in the Cotswolds, ploughman’s lunches, the Chichester canal, making your own Easter bonnet, garden visits, handbell ringers, outings and much more.
An annual subscription to the club is £5.
The club meets most Wednesday afternoons in the village hall and is thriving with around 70 members, but more are always welcome.
