A MIXTURE of congregational and choral singing and short solo entertainments made up the Fernhurst Choral Society’s Christmas party to an invited audience in the beautifully-decorated and candlelit village hall.

The evening opened with Ding Dong Merrily on High before the first of the individual acts by Vivienne Cresswell reciting Joseph’s Song.

Phil Brooke sang a Benjamin Britten folk song before a monologue by John Hakeman on looking ill and others by Bridget Tanner, Eric Rimmer and Elizabeth Chester.

Society members sang well-known favourites including Santa Claus is Coming to Town which had been especially arranged by their musical director Timothy Ravalde for the party.

Afterwards members and guests enjoyed refreshments.
