PLANS for Fernhurst Revels are well on their way for the event on Sunday, May 20.
Now the search is on for the 2012 May Queen, who will be crowned at the event.
Any girl aged between ten and 16 who lives in the parish qualifies and can put her name forward for consideration at a tea party to be held at the end of February.
During her year, the queen has a number of duties to perform.
She will be asked to turn on the village’s Christmas lights, start the pancake races on Shrove Tuesday and possibly help at a few other village events.
Young ladies who would like to be considered are urged to call 01428 642744 soon.
As has been the case at the Revels for many years, local clubs and societies are invited to run stalls to raise funds for themselves and local small traders are also welcome, particularly if they are selling some unusual goods.
An effort is made not to have too much repetition of stalls.
Attractions on the day include a birds of prey flying demonstration, hot food, beer tent jazz band, dog show, dog agility, children’s games, a silent auction, and vintage veteran and classic cars.
Profits from the day go to village facilities and clubs.
