AUGUST sees the Midhurst Museum commemorating the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war.
The display will include research by Midhurst U3A on the names of people who are remembered on the town’s war memorial. A Remembrance Book which gives a brief biography of the individuals will be on display.
Trench art, shell cases, an active service testament and histories of the Royal Sussex Regiment and the Sussex Yeomanry are featured with posters, photographs and regimental cap badges, medals, shoulder flashes and cigarette ‘silks’.
Records of Sussex Regiment’s Distinguished Conduct Medal winners are also on show.
