IT was a perfect day on Saturday for the annual Fittleworth and District Horticultural Society summer show.
Organisers reported entries slightly down overall on last year (291 compared to 325) but the show still generated lots of enthusiasm from village gardeners with very high standards in all classes.
The floral art drew particular admiration, providing a beautiful setting on the stage and a wonderful scent throughout the hall.
The organisers were also delighted with the high number of entries from the juniors and the Brownies, including many quite imaginative examples of necklaces made from recycled materials.
Fittleworth School also made several very successful entries in the fruit and vegetable classes.
Delicious homemade cakes and teas were served throughout the afternoon and Lindsay Jacobs organised a raffle with an enticing assortment of prizes.
