Fittleworth gets set to prepare Neighbourhood Plan

A VILLAGE survey is currently underway in Fittleworth to provide data for a neighbourhood plan, and parish councillors have decided to wait until this information is available before responding to Chichester District Council’s draft housing consultation.

Because Fittleworth is in the South Downs National Park, the consultation is not strictly applicable to the parish, councillors were told, but it could be worth stating its needs and commenting on plans for neighbouring villages which might affect the village.

Having failed to get a restriction on heavy goods vehicles using Lower Street through the village, parish councillors are investigating the Sustainable Communities Act by which complaints can bypass local authorities and go directly to government.
