POLICE in Midhurst and Petworth are launching a special initiative in a bid to stop bicycle thefts in the area.
Police officers are offering people the chance to get their bikes security marked for free.
A spokesman said: “Any stolen equipment has a much greater chance of being returned to its rightful owner if it has been security marked.”
Members of the Midhurst and Petworth neighbourhood policing team will be on hand on Saturday, October 4 to carry out the security marking.
Officers will be in Midhurst at the new Grange Community and Leisure Centre from 9am-midday.
They will be in Fernhurst at the village recreation ground from 1.30pm-3pm.
Officers invite cyclists to come along with their bicycles.
