FRIENDS of Midhurst Community Hospital are planning a permanent memorial to fundraiser Jane Flynn after they received £645 raised in her memory.

Her brother Peter and partner Alan Richards presented the money to chairman of the friends Ann Marchand on the steps of the hospital last week.

They had raised some £400 at a memorial charity evening held in the Grange Leisure Centre last month.

It had been billed as the last-ever country music club event after 27 years at the Grange and Jane was in the middle of organising it when she died suddenly on December 4, aged just 45. Her family rescheduled the event and decided to hold it in her memory to raise funds for the community hospital which was close to Jane’s heart. Her mother Pam Cooper, now bedridden at home, had been a resident there.

A further £245 was raised by those who made donations in Jane’s memory instead of sending flowers to her funeral.
