PLANS for Midhurst Primary School to become an academy have been supported by school governors, following a meeting on Thursday
evening.

Headteacher Matthew Barnes said parents’ questions, concerns about support and the future of the school were carefully considered by governors. If plans were to go ahead, the school would be sponsored by United Learning, which also sponsors Midhurst Rother College.

Mr Barnes said: “The governors at Midhurst CofE Primary School considered carefully responses received from stakeholders about the proposed move to academy status. The vast majority of responses showed emphatic support for converting to an academy under the sponsorship of United Learning. With this enthusiasm behind us, we now need to approach United Learning more formally to begin talks about how and if this could work.”
