Staff at the Grange Leisure Centre in Midhurst have issued an apology after 92 people took their seats for a movie evening which didn’t happen.
As the start time of 7.30pm came and went, the event’s organiser Aly Smith was forced to take centre stage instead and announce the audience would not be seeing The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel because the company which was supposed to be putting it on had ended business.
“I told them we were very sorry and we would try to get the film screened as soon as possible.
“I asked everyone to wait in their seats while we took all their names and telephone numbers and they all gave me a round of applause!
Staff at the Grange have now arranged for the film to be screened on Friday, August 3, at 7.30pm with a new company Cinema2U and all those who came to the Grange last Friday (July 20) have been contacted and given the new date.
“I was so impressed at how understanding everyone has been,” said Aly.
“We have now telephoned everyone and they have all been very kind.
Anyone who would like to book tickets for the show on August 3 should contact the Grange box office on 01730 816841.
