MIDHURST Lions club members and the Rotary Club of Midhurst and Petworth have stepped in to keep life-saving equipment at the ready in the Grange Leisure Centre.

The two groups have donated £300 for a new battery for the centre’s defibrillator and this week Lions representative Margaret Balchin and Rotary president Paul Ryan dropped in to see the machine in action for themselves.

Centre manager Mike Boyce said: “We would like to thank the Lions and Rotarians for supporting us yet again in buying the new battery for the defibrillator as they originally provided part of the funding for the machine. Recently 11 members of staff undertook a yearly training session in the use of the machine and having the new battery means we are fully operational in providing a life-saving service.”
