AN array of flower arrangements brought a touch of spring to Harting village hall.

There was an increase in the number of cookery and photographic exhibits, but fewer flowers than usual.

The number of visitors to the show was down 20 per cent on last year.

Unfortunately there were no entries for the eight to 16-year-old group.

There were some new names among the winners this year and congratulations to the cup winners including the Reg Budd memorial cup for best flower exhibit – David Thistleton-Smith; Charles Cooper challenge cup for spring flowers –Mrs L Cordery; president’s cup for cookery, photography and flower arranging – Ruth Bonner and Lynda Hayward; Mrs Jean Bird spring cup for seven years and under – Ben and Sebastian Northey.
