HASLEMERE Educational Museum has been celebrating the success of its special anniversary ‘comment tree’.
Last year it commemorated 125 years making it only five years younger than the Natural History Museum, and the year saw many celebratory events including a visit from the Countess of Wessex.
At the start of the year the ‘comment -tree’ was created by children attending one of the museum’s events.
And over the year visitors posted their thoughts on leaf-shaped ‘post-it’ notes.
“It has been both interesting and humbling to read all the comments,” said a museum spokesman.
The comments included ‘Been coming here for 38 years, still as good as ever! Happy birthday!’;
‘Happy 125th Anniversary I love the activities’ and
‘One of my favourite places’.
This year children’s activities are being re-branded as ‘Museum Explorers’.
The first session included trialling a new trail and visiting places not often open to the public.
Haslemere was one of the first museums in the country to encourage children and won the 2012 ‘Family Friendly Museum’ award.
