A BAFTA-winning actress from Billingshurst is donning her walking boots to support a good cause.

Julie Walters, who can also add a Golden Globe to her list of accolades, is asking residents across the Midhurst and Petworth area to dust off their comfiest shoes to walk for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The charity is holding a memory walk in Brighton on Sunday, September 8, and the Harry Potter star is a big supporter of the cause.

“Dementia is something that often gets brushed under the carpet,” she said.

“There are more than 9,400 people in the West Sussex area living with this condition and across the county there are over 41,000.

“As well as raising vital funds for local people and services, the memory walk in Brighton will be a lovely day out for all the family.”

Julie also said she hoped this walk would be even bigger and better than last year, with more people taking part.

The memory walk is the Alzheimer Society’s flagship fundraising event, and walks take place around the UK throughout September. Run in partnership with Bupa Care Homes, the event made £1.4 million to support people with dementia and their carers.

This year, Bupa will donate £2.50 for every walker who completes the walk. Register at {http://www.memorywalk.org.uk/brighton\walk}
