Delia Giles was presented with the Happiness Award at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards, with judges commending her as ‘someone who lifts up everyone’s spirits’.

She works at Hillside Lodge in Pulborough and since joining the home three years ago as a support worker, she has quickly moved up the ranks, now supporting residents and colleagues.

Delia said: “I’m so happy to have received this award and would like to thank everyone who nominated me.

“For me, it’s the little things that make the difference to residents.

“I really enjoy getting the residents together on events such as Valentine’s Day to spread the love, decorating the home and getting them as involved as I can.

“Whenever a resident is celebrating a birthday, I’ll try to take the time to do something with them for it, whether it be a trip to the pub or a present – something to make them feel appreciated.

“I look forward to working with Shaw and our residents Hillside Lodge for years to come.”

More than 200 people gathered at The Heythrop Resort and Spa in Oxfordshire for Shaw healthcare’s eight annual awards ceremony, which celebrated the achievements of outstanding staff among the 4,600 care workers across the firm’s 80 UK facilities.
