IT has become a popular date on the calendar in the small community of Lodsworth.

The sixth annual ‘Art at the Hollist’ exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow, Saturday, November 29 to Saturday December 7 from 11am-7.30pm every day.

As well as a chance to buy from talented local artists, the annual exhibition is also their opportunity to collect for local charities.

This year the artists have decided to donate ten per cent of their sales towards helping the Sylvia Beaufoy youth centre, just down the road in Petworth.

Spokesman for the ‘Art at the Hollist’ group Patsy Moore told the Observer: “The youth centre in Petworth is in great need of funding to help the young people in the town with somewhere to go, friends to meet up with, a chance to be creative and have older people around to guide them.”

Last year the group decided to support ‘The Chestnut Tree Trust’.

Through donations from the sale of paintings and through a raffle organised by the artists during the week they raised £1235 and are hoping to raise as much again this year.

“This is our sixth year and our reputation has grown so do come and view an amazing variety of local artistic talent,” said Patsy.
