DOWNTON Abbey star Hugh Bonneville is among the artists contributing works to a fundraising silent auction in aid of the Heartwood Project at South Harting, a small group of parents and teachers who have come together to create a small educational community.
The project began with several parents, teachers and interested people meeting regularly for over a year, getting to know each other to realise their vision to ‘create a family-like environment that allows for quietness and reflection in balance with activity and stimulation’.
The project has given out blank canvases to supporters willing to create a work of art for free. For the auction, the work will be displayed with just a number, no signature, with a bidding sheet next to it where people place their bids. They put their name, a contact number and how much they will pay for it. At a fixed time, a bell sounds and all bidding ends.
When they buy the canvas, the purchaser then discovers whose painting it is.
The auction will be held on Sunday, March 25, at the back room of the Chichester Inn on West Street in Chichester.
There is no entry fee.
Bidding starts at 5pm and ends at 8pm.
