A PETWORTH food shop has scooped six regional awards – and is hungry for more.
The Hungry Guest was awarded two gold awards for its bacon, a silver for one of its sausage recipes, and a further four bronze awards as part of the BPEX regional pork awards.
“It’s really quite an achievement,” said Andy Gould, the shop’s retail sales manager.
“They’re both young guys passionate about what they’re doing,” he added of Charlie Grainger, 21, and Ben Maidment, 23, the butchery manager, who both work at the shop and were key to its victory.
“Customers really do come back because they love that two young guys are so passionate in a world of 50-year old butchers,” he said.
He added the Hungry Guest was also planning to enter a number of other food awards this year.
The BPEX awards deal with British pork excellence and are national awards with a number of regional legs.
“It’s a national thing to find the best sausage and pork products across the country,” added Andy.
The shop won its awards for the South East region.
