Injured man rescued from crane 100 feet above the ground in Midhurst

Firefighters were called in to help rescue a workman who was injured some 100 feet from the ground at Midhurst Rother College on Saturday while helping to dismantle a tower crane on the building site of the new school.

Working in a confined space, technical rescue officers from West Sussex Fire Service and ambulance paramedics worked together to deal with the injured man.

He was lowered to the ground using a line and a basket stretcher from the jib of the crane in a complex operation which took two hours to complete.
