THERE was no mistaking the community atmosphere in the Grange Leisure Centre as people flocked in for the annual Christmas lunch hosted by staff.
It is a tradition which goes back some three decades when the first festive feast was held at the former Grange when it opened in the mid 1980s.
Centre manager Mike Boyce told the Observer: “Now in its second year at the new centre, the Christmas lunch was a great success and very well supported by members of the Grange.”
More than 70 members of the Friday Club and Rother Valley Together, the community run club for elderly and vulnerable people which has its home at the Grange, donned their party hats for the occasion.
They were joined by Colin Hughes, founding chairman of RVT, the current chairman Margaret Guest and volunteers who help run the club.
They enjoyed lunch and entertainment courtesy of Marco Frankland and Alain Bryant on the piano accordion.
