It's a Rolls Royce of a careers fair at Midhurst Rother College!

A Rolls Royce Dawn was again centre stage, flanked for part of the evening by two members of the Household Cavalry in full ceremonial dress.

The careers evening saw over 50 companies and educational establishments descend on the college with the sole purpose of educating students and their parents about the possibilities that are available to them as they progress beyond MRC. New exhibitors this year included the Royal Veterinary College, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Q Hair and Beauty and financial consultancy EY (formerly known as Ernst and Young).

Year 10 Hospitality students, who used the event to complete one of their assignments, welcomed exhibitors and visitors to the fair.

This year saw the addition of a performance area, which gave current students the opportunity to perform alongside up and coming professional musicians from the Academy of Contemporary Music and the British and Irish Modern Music academy. Megan Lara Rae, a singer/songwriter currently studying at ACM said: “The performing students have such a professional attitude and the technical ability of the stage crew is impressive. I hope they continue to follow a path in the music industry, we need to encourage young talent like this.’

Some former students returned as exhibitors for the NHS, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Veterinary College and Rolls Royce Motors Cars. Former head boy George Stringer, now an apprentice in the NHS, led a presentation helping to raise the profile of apprenticeships and the opportunities they offer.

Gill Welsman, MRC careers co-ordinator,said: ‘Its lovely to see students return to the college to support this event. As recent students here they are able to engage and support students in a way that they can really relate to; their experiences are recent and first-hand advice is always well received. Current students respond well to seeing their peers thrive in their chosen pathway and enjoy the opportunity to discuss possible options for their future.”
