IN 1998 Burma Star veteran Jack Holloway initiated ‘Jack’s Sponsored Walk’ in aid of the Poppy Appeal of the Royal British Legion.

This has now become an annual event, raising more than £30,000 in Jack’s lifetime.

Since his death in 2011, the walk has continued as a lasting tribute to him, raising a further £2,700 including gift aid, last year.

It covers around eight miles and has made its way through villages around the area, including Duncton, Heyshott, Lodsworth, Lurgashall and Northchapel.

This year’s route is planned by John Rosser, who participated with Jack in the inaugural walk.

It will set out on Saturday, October 5 from the Noah’s Ark Inn, Lurgashall, at 9.30am before returning there for a well deserved lunch.

All ages, individuals, teams, and dogs are welcome.
