FROM Lurgashall to Bosham the 40 members of Kirdford Art Group have been busy with their paint brushes throughout the scorching summer.
Now they are putting their work on display at their annual exhibition in Kirdford Village Hall which will be open to the public on Saturday October 19 (10am-5pm) and Sunday October 20 (10am-3.30pm)
One of the exhibitors will be prolific artist, Gordon Rushmer, who this year has received the prestigious accolade of the Roland Hilder Award for a painting exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters of Watercolour in the Mall Galleries.
His paintings at Kirdford are of the surrounding countryside he loves.
Gordon has been painting since he was 16 and attended Farnham Art College: “I prefer to work in watercolour,” he said.
“I think it is the most difficult medium, and the most rewarding.” His one-man exhibition at Haslemere Museum is running until October 26. Entitled ‘The Road to Kandahar’ it is the culmination of two years work and the grand finale of the 12 years he has been working as a war artist in the Middle East.
