THERE’s a whole new world of play on offer for lucky children at Northchapel Primary School.
And it comes courtesy of some more luck when the school heard it had been awarded Big Lottery funding to provide new facilities at the school together with money raised by the school’s PTA.
It arrived shortly before the end of the summer term in time for pupils to have a go in the sunshine before they broke up for the holiday.
Headteacher Helen Coleman said: “The children are delighted with their new play equipment. “The school has installed a fantastic purpose-built tyre park using safe tyres, allowing the children to develop skills in balance and co-ordination, active play and team-building.
“The tyres are arranged in a rocket formation with some flat, including bounce pads, and some on their sides.
“Children are loving clambering over them at break times and sitting on them to eat their picnic lunch.
“The funding was also used to provide a soft-play surface under their wooden climbing frame, enabling the children to play in all weathers on a safe surface.
She added: “Feedback from parents and children has been full of praise.”
