As Mother’s Day approaches, NHS Blood and Transplant is appealing for blood to help new mums and their babies.
Around six per cent of blood used in hospitals is for maternity care so a blood donation session is being held in Petworth just before Mother’s Day.
NHS Blood and Transplant’s lead donor relations manager for the South East area, John Canning, said: “We are regularly contacted by grateful young mothers who owe their lives to blood donors after receiving transfusions during childbirth.
“People really can make a difference by going along to a session in Petworth.”
The session is at Petworth Primary School, Herbert Shiner Centre on Monday, March 24 from 1.45pm-4.30pm and 5.30pm-8pm.
