Cream teas in Monty Don inspired garden at Egdean

Monty Don

Monty Don

THERE will be a chance to see a garden inspired by television gardener Monty Don when Egdean villagers hold their cream tea weekend in aid of St Bartholomew’s Church.

The teas will be served in the garden of Egdean House where John and Jan Shepherd are again hosting the annual weekend at Egdean House and teas will be served in the garden, giving visitors the chance to see the new part of the garden.

John and Jan have spent nine months designing and building the garden for the arrival of John’s mum Maggie, who is to move into the new extension.

Jan read Monty Don was about to start a new television series and wanted to help gardeners with their problems. She contacted him and ‘before we knew it, Monty Don was walking up the drive with a helping hand’.

The show, called ’big dreams, small spaces’, is to be shown on BBC2 this autumn.

The cream tea weekend is this Saturday and Sunday July 26-27, from 2.30pm-5pm.
