LEADING garden designer Ann-Marie Powell from East Harting has spent the week presenting live coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Ann-Marie was part of the BBC team presenting coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, one of the most prestigious gardening events of the year, which finishes this weekend.
She appeared alongside presenters including Monty Don, Sophie Raworth, Carol Klein and Jo Swift as the show celebrates its 101st anniversary in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
A Chelsea gold medal winner herself, Ann-Marie said: “It was such a privilege to be invited to join the BBC team and a real pleasure to be involved. The show is so special, so inspirational.”
As part of her role, Ann-Marie focused on coverage of the People’s Choice Award in the Show Gardens category, where members of the public voted for their favourite garden at this year’s show.
Ann-Marie started her innovative, energetic garden design practice in 1999.
She has since built an impressive portfolio of gardens designed to combine the best of contemporary design with original use of materials in a naturalist style.
“I love what I do and being able to help clients realise their dreams is really exciting.
“Whether I’m working on a small space or a private estate, the challenge is the same, to create an innovative, individual garden to stimulate and inspire,” she said.
She won a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2010 for her garden design for Green And Blacks and a Silver Flora Medal at the 2011 show for her designs for the British Heart Foundation and Brewin Dolphin.
She has written three books on garden design and is a regular contributor to magazines and journals.
