ROGATE’S first public ‘Star Party’ will be taking place in the grounds and hall of Rogate Primary School on Saturday, February 8, from 5pm-7 pm.

It has been organised jointly by The South Downs National Park Dark Skies team, Hampshire Astronomy Group at Clanfield Observatory, Rogate Parish Council and Rogate Primary School to celebrate the dark skies enjoyed above the village, even in the centre.

The event is free and organisers are hoping all children living in and near Rogate will come along with their families.

Rogate residents with telescopes have been invited to set them up on the school playing field alongside those brought by astronomers from the observatory.

In the school hall there will be a live feed to the sun, showing sunspot activity at that precise moment.

To add to the festive atmosphere, Ann Arnold at Rogate Stores is sponsoring hot chocolate for everyone, which will be served by Ann and members of the Rogate School Family and Friends association.
