Impressive flower show at Billingshurst

A VILLAGE hall full of fragrant flowers and pristine vegetables greeted visitors to Billingshurst Flower Show, where the quality of the exhibits impressed judge and spectator alike.

A ‘guess the weight of the pumpkin’ provided much entertainment for visitors who also enjoyed refreshments, the cake stall and chocolate tombola.

David Stevens won the Maj Gen JML Renton Memorial Trophy, Wally Wicks Memorial Trophy, Open Cup, Bush Memorial Cup and the Banksian Medal.

Sheila Leaney won the Ladies’ Cup, Alan Dugdale Memorial Trophy and 
FRH Simpson Memorial Cup.

The John Kingston Memorial Trophy went to Billy Hammond’s ‘Top Tray’ and the Eve McHugh Award for best photograph was won by Simon Denman for his meerkat.

The Miss Puttock Memorial Cup went to Brenda Twine and the Howard Cup to 
Nessa Osgood.

The Coronation Cup, WI Goodey Cup and the WI Beck Cup were won by Daphne Davies. The WI Cup for Photography went to Beryl Barraclough and 
the WI Wilson Cup for craft 
to Audrey Wilkes.

Julia Ralph won the Maj Gen JML Renton Award for craft. and the Society Photographic Cup was shared by Ray Chick and Daphne Drabble. The Junior Cup was awarded to Isabelle Skinner.
