IT is more than 30 years since Lurgashall Village Hall hosted a Christmas party for village children, so there were great expectations for the Blast Off! show, followed by games, tea party and a surprise visit.

More than 40 children and a good number of grown-ups went to the party which blasted off with fun entertainment by Kid Carpet.

He took everyone on a ‘low-tech’ space mission to the sun and back with his noisy animals.

Safely back on earth again, there were games before everyone tucked into tea, complete with crackers and party poppers.

Then PC Plod (former policeman Ray Cooper) arrived with apologies from Father Christmas and a large sack of presents.

The event came courtesy of a team of organisers and helpers led by Anna Wilson, Ray Cooper, Francis and Rose Dillon-Thiselton and Jackie Boxall.
